No, not even on Christmas Day will I take a break from blogging, though it can be argued that I’ve taken so many already. And none of you can call this short-ass post the result of a serious, concentrated effort. (Though, it is an effort just to write every day.)

I think I have finally found a solution to the compression issues with the site. I will test it tomorrow. For now, stay tuned. And if you have lost all interest, never shant you be ashamed to admit it. There’ve been several times when even I have almost lost interest in documenting my travails, in detail.

Testing still going on. . .

The latest dilemma to strike is the compression issue. Aw shit, why don’t you guys make this easier on me and get, like, a damn broadband modem or some equip like that?

Just kidding :) . I like tricking people into thinking that I’m some egotistical fuck. I don’t know why people’s reactions send me into fits of prolonged laughter and snot-launching, but that’s the effect it has on me. Good times.

But anyway, dial-up guys (I read somewhere) still comprise more than 80% of all ‘Net surfers. That number is dwindling every day, but unemployment woes and lack of better jobs are the reasons why the rate is not more precipitous. Although, they say (“they” being the economists and those—I think—self-proclaimed market experts and analysts) the economy’s turning around for the better.

But the health of the economy is not the reason why my website is still in the testing stage. It has something to do with some other external obligations, responsibilities which exist outside the site. I won’t bore you patient readers with whining about those sort of things, but it’s safe to say that the site probably won’t even be up by the end of this month, and since this is December and the end of the month means the end of the year, I should rephrase the previous portion of this tangential sentence to end of the year. It is a shame that the Brudlos Brothers—one who draws the critically-acclaimed webcomic Alpha-Shade and the other, who handles the animation-side of the full-fledged extension to the comic, Alpha-Rants—can pump out more complex work faster than I can.

This reminds me of a time that I had to do this particularly complex animation sequence for animation class in college, and I was clueless as to where to start. Finally, after I had discovered my vantage point the deadline was on me like a G-man might be on a suspected terrorist cell. By the way, a G-man might be someone from the FBI or the CIA, or any American state-sponsored counter-terrorism agency (G-men, plural). Anyhoo. . .the assignment was completed, just after the nick of time but that was good enough for my very-forgiving instructor.

Too bad I can’t say the same for this bitch of a website, which has taken four months out of my life (add an additional month if you want to count the scribbles I made on some blank, loose-leaf printer paper the month prior, which later served as the mock-up for the greeting page of what will eventually be my site) and cost me an eye-popping amount of money. Not as much money as, say, launching a corporate site, but then again I don’t have a corporate budget to work with. The victim of my own lofty ambitions, I have not cried “uncle” yet but there were more than a few times when I dearly wanted to. Such is the extent of the complexity of what I am attempting to accomplish.

Therefore, as a result of my self-imposed deadline I am using the final paragraphs of this post to explain to you guys that some restrictions will now be placed on the amount of detail my site will contain. No extended Flash animation sequences, save for a couple “loading. . .” screens and flylines. No more major enhancements to the Forum, like I might’ve promised in past entries. That’s out. No trick pages, no Shockwave games, no mobile content—just the basic dynamic digital architecture that I started with when I hallucinated this thing into what it has become now.

Because this shitter is taking up too damn much of my fucking time.

Not Again.

Okay, something’s happening here. In what seems like a bid to make a year-end memorial list, John Spencer has died. Which sucks ass. This news feels like someone’s astonishingly poor idea of an April Fools’ Day joke. We lost a shitload of people just in the past fifteen days, not to mention in the past six months. And here’s the kicker—John Spencer wasn’t even that old. Four days from 59? What kind of shit is that?

Okay, some of those news lines don’t come first. Sorry.

Just a short update today. I don’t think that I will be able to update the news every single day due to the sheer amount of testing that needs to be done for the site. I will however, do the best that I can to find a way to update the lines wirelessly. And plus I have external pressures to address as well. Thanks to my sufficient typing skills, I am able to update my blog today.

More later, and sorry for the half-assed update. I’m exhausted as hell.

Even More to Talk About

I’ll be posting short, frequent updates from now until the official launch of enochallen.com on my blog, which shouldn’t be long now. These updates will contain information on the progress I am making with coding as well as some new discoveries I have made (new things about being a webmaster that I have learned that everyone else likely knows). Still problems with the damn forms.

And, as usual, the BLUE HEADER will be updated early and often. I am working on an even more dynamic news flash, hopefully one that will be the equal of the one on CNN Headline News in terms of quality. Because variety is the spice of life, and the Mona Lisa still occupies many a boy’s wet dream. I’m talking about beauty, and JavaScript—as economical as it is—simply isn’t attractive enough to look at. Yet, it’s easy to manage—I don’t have to fuss with it, which is a big plus for me as I have to fuss with just about every other digital building block of enochallen.com.

Having great fun typing the news lines!

Testing for enochallen.com moving along at a rapid clip. The hardest part about enochallen.com may well be the forum.

I started with four original designs and ended up having to draft five more because the four were impractical. Ease of use has got to be the most difficult factor in determining whether a forum is ready for primetime. Sometimes, bug checking blows. Hard.

Well, anyway I should stop whining long enough to tell you guys that headlines are updated sometimes three times a day, like today for example. Just keep your eyes on the BLUE HEADER and report any inaccuracies or problems seeing the headlines to e44r33@enochallen.com, like I know you will. You can also use allenfs@aol.com if you wish as well.

And that’s it for now. . .

At Last.

TESTING for enochallen.com is up! I’ll be testing the website in realtime for the remainder of this month. In the meanwhile, the Flash file for the side-scrolling sentence is 19 MB. Which means that even if it doesn’t suck up every resource your computer has, it may take a while for it to load on your computer, and if it takes longer than two minutes, I have one of two suggestions for you. Minimize the window, and go somewhere else. Or this. Keep your eyes on the blue header, and after you’ve seen the headlines, close the window and go somewhere else. Do not wait for the message to load if you do not have the time!

That’s it for now. . .

Paramount buys DreamWorks.

Okay. Now, I’m fucking shaking.

More later. As I come to my senses.

It's on its way! Dammit!

Y’know, the weird thing is that not even Richard Pryor’s death at 65 could get me to make a new post, this after a record twelve days (the longest since I began blogging six months ago) since my last post.

I wish I could tell you that enochallen.com is done and LIVE. . .alas, I have nothing aside from the usual to report. I am still working on my website. There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight.
